inControl Community Guidelines

Respectful and Inclusive Communication

We expect all members to be courteous, professional, and inclusive. Personal attacks, insults, harassment or hate speech of any kind (racism, sexism, homophobia, etc.) are strictly prohibited. Diverse perspectives and constructive feedback are welcome, but always expressed with respect and empathy. Our community is a safe, supportive space, so please use welcoming language and consider how your words affect others.

Stay Focused on Event Topics

Our community is dedicated to the events industry. Please keep posts and comments relevant to event planning, production, technology, and related topics. Off-topic discussions-including political debates or unrelated issues-detract from our purpose and may be removed. Use this space to share industry news, ideas, and best practices that benefit all event professionals.

Professional and Appropriate Content

This is a professional community, so all content should be appropriate for work. No adult or explicit material (pornographic language or images, NSFW language, or graphic content) is allowed. Avoid profanity, graphic violence, or any content that could make others uncomfortable. Keep discussions and media workplace-friendly and suitable for event-industry professionals of all backgrounds.

Protect Privacy and Personal Data

Respect everyone's privacy and confidentiality. Do not share personal or sensitive information (phone numbers, emails, addresses, etc.) of yourself or others without explicit permission. If someone shares personal details privately, keep them confidential. In public posts, stick to professional details and avoid exposing anyone's personal data.

No Spam or Solicitation

Unsolicited advertising, spam, or solicitation are not allowed. This includes excessive self-promotion, posting the same message repeatedly, or advertising services/products without relevance. Promotional content should be occasional and clearly useful to the community. Do not contact members privately to pitch products or services. When in doubt, err on the side of adding value rather than selling.

Collaborate and Share Knowledge

We encourage a spirit of collaboration and learning. Share your expertise, ask questions, and offer constructive help. Provide proper credit when sharing others' ideas or resources. As Khoros notes, communities thrive on knowledge-sharing and peer support, so participate actively, answer questions, and contribute useful insights. Keep feedback constructive and focused on helping colleagues improve.

Moderation and Enforcement

Our moderators and admins oversee the community to ensure these rules are followed. They will remove or correct posts that violate guidelines and may warn or suspend members when necessary. Members are encouraged to report any problems or rule violations so they can be addressed promptly. By following these guidelines and helping each other, we create a professional, respectful, and welcoming community for all inControl members.
